    Golf Course Review

Iona Golf Course lies on the small island of Iona in the Inner Hebrides on the western coast of Scotland. The golf course is accessible on foot after taking a short ferry from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull. The golf course is found on the far side of a small island west of a small island off the remote and rugged west coast of Scotland. The island itself is more famous from Iona Abbey, the burial place of Macbeth.

It is perhaps the best value in golf... if you make it here you can play the golf for free. The scorecard will set you back £1 and is available from the post office.

    Sam Cooper's Course Synopsis

Golf takes you to some unique places. Iona was definitely one of them. Firstly, there's the journey. A ferry from Oban to Craignure, then an hour's drive across spectacular Mull. Here, we abandon the car and take a second ferry to tiny Baile Mòr on Iona. With cars restricted solely to island residents, we began the walk across the island to the course - located at the appropriately named 'Bay at the Back of the Ocean'.

We caught the attention of some local residents - but saw no one else on two legs. We passed through an agricultural gate with a view of the Atlantic ahead. There was nothing to suggest a golf course, save for a small flag on a nearby hill. Spotting a small stone marker, we found the sign we were looking for.
