Overview

The Hallamshire Golf Club is located between the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the Peak District National Park. The 18 hole heathland is one of Yorkshire's finest golf clubs.

A local newspaper proprietor, Christopher Leng, opened Hallamshire Golf Club in 1897.

Changes were made to the original course before Harry Colt, in 1937, advised on changes which made the club we know today. The local press reported a complete overhaul to the courses bunkering and the introduction of a 'water supply' or irrigation.

Of interest, J Morrison wrote in the winter of 1938 that a WA Murray was carrying out construction alterations at the club. No detail is given as to what they may have entailed.
