Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links
Overview
Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links will always be compared with its neighbour, the Portmarnock Golf Club. Whilst the name probably doesn't help matters, it's pretty good golf in its own right!
Golf Course Review
Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links lies on the same peninsula as Portmarnock Golf Club. Directly bordering the course to the north, the city of Dublin lies directly opposite to the West and the Irish Sea, Ireland’s Eye, and the Hill of Howth to the East. 5 miles of beach, called the Velvet Strand, runs alongside the links eastern boundary.
Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links History
The estate originally belonged to the Jameson family who played over a private golf course located here since the mid 19th century. The current links incorporated some of the original course into its layout!
The first golf course developed by IMG in Ireland opened for play in 1995 with Stan Eby guiding the affair and Bernhard Langer lending his name to the project.
In 2022, Jeff Lynch re-routed the course and built five new greens and four new tee complexes. With the revision complete, it was reopened in 2023, no longer as Portmarnock Links but as Jameson Golf Links.
