Nicklaus by Design promises an in-depth discussion of Jack's design work and architectural philosophy. Chapter Two begins with the quote: "I don't have a strict philosophy of golf course design."
That said, Jack Nicklaus is arguably the greatest golfer of all time. His stature helped him build a global design firm responsible for hundreds of courses. However, Nicklaus by Design feels more like a promotional gift. The kind of gift used to woo a potential client who is still debating whether to go with your firm or another.
A glossy book that is more style than substance, this is not a serious golf course architecture book.
Read if . . .
You want an indoctrination from one of the most prolific modern-day architects.
