The layout and logical development of the book are excellent. After identifying “Types of Hazards” and examples of “Twenty Famous Hazards” the focus shifts to the “Philosophies of Legendary Architects”. After there is a contributed chapter on the “Psychological Effects of Hazards.” Of particular interest is chapter six, “Design & Strategy of Hazards”. The remaining two chapters deal with the construction, restoration, and maintenance of them.
The Acknowledgements reads like the who’s who list of golf course architecture. You can tell they shared a zeal and a passion for the project when they contributed to it.
Unique, focused and not as well known as it should be, Bunkers, Pits & Other Hazards is a worthy niche addition to any architectural library.
