Full Course Review

520 acres of farmland was turned into the Fairmont St Andrews Kittocks course. One of the two courses is The Kittocks Course. Opened in 2001, the course has evolved and been tweaked by Gary Stephenson in 2008. There are spectacular views of the North Sea and of St Andrews itself. If nothing else, the hotel is superb and what you'd expect from a world leader of the hospitality industry.

It borders David McLay Kidd's and The St Andrews Links Trust's Castle Course. The Castle, Kittocks and Torrance have endeavoured to emulate the success of Kingsbarns Golf Links. The formula of old farmland come golf links is difficult to pull off but when done well the results can be world-class. Kingsbarns is evidence of this, The Castle Course is the marmite of the four and the Fairmont St Andrews Kittocks offering lie somewhere in between.
