Golf Course Review

Enniscrone Golf Club is found on the wild Atlantic way on the west coast of Ireland in County Sligo. Set amongst enormous dunes beside Killala Bay and at the mouth of the River Moy, it is one of Ireland’s most scenic links.

Enniscrone Golf Club Early History

The club was founded in 1918 with the course ranging from nine holes to four holes and then to six holes. Work began in 1970 to extend the course to 18 holes and in 1974, Eddie Hackett opened it for play.

The Modern Championsip Golf Course

More recently, Donald Steel reconfigured the course and routed holes in the large dunes that had gone unused by Hackett. 6 holes were added by Donald Steel in the dunes along with 12 of Hackett’s originals to make up the current Dunes Course. The four finishing holes run along the seaside creating both a memorable and sensational finish.

Scurmore Course at Enniscrone

The 6 original displaced Hackett holes were accented by 3 new Donald Steel designs to create the 9 hole Scurmore course. Both courses opened for play in 2001.
