Overview

One explanation why Conwy Golf Club is often overlooked is perhaps due to its location in north Wales. Don't be fooled - it isn't difficult at all to get to. The club is within easy reach of The Wirral, Liverpool, and Chester, less than an hour away! Hosting The Curtis Cup has helped pushed Conwy into the spotlight.

In 1893, Douglas Adams painted "A Difficult Bunker", "The Putting Green" and "The Drive" using Conwy as his subject.

Golf Course Review

Conwy Golf Club is one of Wales’ best links and host to the 2021 Curtis Cup. The golf course lies on the mouth of the River Conwy and has views of Conwy Mountain, Conwy Estuary, and the Great Orme. The club was once known as the Conwy Caernarfonshire Golf Club.

Conwy Golf Club Architectural History

The nephew of Old Tom Morris, Jack Morris, laid out 12 holes at the behest of Hoylake members in 1875. Jack Morris later returned to extend the course to 18 holes in 1895.

In the mid-1970s, Frank Pennink built new greens on the 4th, 6th, and 8th. Tees were also added on the 5th, 7th, and 9th. In 1983, Brian Hugget and Neil Coles created the 13th and 17th holes.

Conwy Golf Club Summary
