Golf Course Review

Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club is a 36 hole short course laid out on 35 acres of free-draining, open parkland golf in the city centre of Edinburgh. It is disputed when exactly golf was first played on the links but there is evidence to suggest the 16th century. The golf club itself dates to 1890!

The Royal Burgess Golfing Society and the Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society both used the links for a considerable time before acquiring their own courses nearby.

The course is 36 holes where more than 3 clubs would be excessive. It is rough and ready, the golf is primitive and that’s the point. The course changes weekly and local comps are carried out.

The links are an institution and the birthplace of the modern game in East Lothian via Musselburgh. This is fun golf that is to be enjoyed before and after with a pint from Ye Olde Golf Tavern beside the first tee. The tavern dates to an incredible 1456!
